I would like to extend my thanks to you for your valued contribution to our staff Professional Learning Days to kick off the 2025 school year.

Not only did I personally love hearing from you, I have heard from many others regarding how much they valued the time learning from you.

The chance to work together with each other and explore data understanding was invaluable. Staff having access to their own data and feeling safe to engage really enhanced the learning.

The concept of a gap between reality and expectations came up as a stress point repeatedly in our two other professional learning sessions on Wellbeing and GenAI I am excited regarding how staff can use data to feel more aware of and empowered to address this gap for themselves and their students.

The absolute high point for me was the final moment when you introduced the formative assessment idea around engagement and the Primary School example you shared. I encouraged staff today to think about how they could use this as a PLC project.

All in all your contribution was well timed, well received and absolutely exceptionally delivered.

Many thanks from the SWIF Team for your work with us last Thursday. The feedback has been nothing but positive. Most comments (from the participating school leaders) related to how practical your session was and how easy it was to relate the content to their own context. They also appreciated your sense of humour and down-to-earth nature.

There was also a strong indication from participants that the whole structure of the day was valuable – from your session with the whole group, to collaborating around lag/lead data with schools working on a similar improvement area, and then onto data plans with the different levels of leadership flowed well. Much of that is thanks to you for your thinking and planning the different aspects of the day with us.

I really appreciated your presentation to the IST team earlier in the week. I found your approach refreshingly honest and unambiguous, if not entertaining at times.

More importantly it demystified for me the current almost obsession with data that seems to have pervaded education. People throw it around as a catch-all which I guess worries me a bit particularly if their knowledge of statistical processes and tools are limited. You clarified this perfectly and eased my concern considerably.
